the Need for GeneLink

MARGATE, N.J.--(BW HealthWire)--March 23, 1999--GeneLink Inc. (OTC BB:GNLK-news)
Representatives from The Human Genome Project - a global undertaking set
to map and sequence all human genes - recently announced they will release
the first draft (90% of the 3 billion DNA sequences) next February, one
year ahead of schedule.
Such mapping of the entire genome, the genetic map that defines the human
species, promises to revolutionize medicine and provide new treatment for
numerous diseases.
"As research continues to produce new findings in diseases
such as cancer, diabetes and Alzheimers's, early detection and treatment
will change the way we view medicine," states John R. DePhillipo,
GeneLink's Chairman and CEO. ''With the imminent completion of The
Human Genome Project, the public is starting to understand how DNA
storage will allow future generations to take full advantage of such
findings."
The Margate based company produces a DNA Collection Kit (on which
patents are pending)-a safe, easy, non-invasive method of extracting
one's DNA and storing it at the University of North Texas Health
Science Center in Fort Worth, Texas. GeneLink provides the opportunity
for families to bank their DNA for generations, providing a genetic
family history that can be used to aid in healthcare treatment.
More importantly, banked DNA becomes a major catalyst in shifting
the practice of medicine from diagnosis and treatment to prediction
and prevention.
"The more genes we become aware of, the more people will realize
the important of storing their genetic makeup. This reinforces the
need for a product that offers confidential, guaranteed DNA banking.
We anticipate a surge in inquiries and sales as a result,'' says
DePhillipo.
