MARGATE, N.J., Apr 11, 2000 (BW HealthWire) -- GeneLink BioSciences, Inc. (OTC BB:GNLK),
is extremely excited about recent news involving the mapping of the human
genetic blueprint. This ability will eventually enable scientists to dissect
DNA strands and completely decode all the elements that make up the human
genetic pattern. Celera Genomics (NYSE:CRA) recently announced making this
enormous scientific leap, having completed the total separation of human
DNA into all of it's separate genes.
GeneLink is the World's First Family Centered DNA Bank and Hereditary
Genetic Information Service. GeneLink's business model involves DNA
banking, the collection and long-term storage of an individual's
DNA inexpensively, while that individual is living or shortly after
death. The necessity to save individual DNA "data" will
be fully recognized in the very near future, with GeneLink's DNA
banking ability playing a major role in the field of human genomics. "With
these recent discoveries in human DNA mapping, companies like Celera
will be able to offer something like a "human road map' and
GeneLink will play the role of the storage facility," GeneLink CEO
John R. DePhillipo commented.
GeneLink BioSciences, Inc. is a fully reporting company, trading on the OTC
Bulletin Board. The company's DNA banking service creates a genetic
history that enables families to determine if they are at risk for
certain inherited diseases. GeneLink's patent pending DNA Collection
Kit' utilizes a noninvasive process for collecting saliva. The DNA
is then extracted and stored for up to 75 years at the University
of North Texas Health Science Center at Fort Worth, Texas, a 105
year old medical facility. The company believes that its 75 year
storage program is the longest term being offered in the country
to date.
